FOCUS ON THE WOMEN ON BOARDS DIRECTIVE

What is at stake?

The so called ‘Women on Boards Directive’ establishes effective measures to ensure a more balanced gender representation among the directors of companies registered and stock listed in countries of the European Union. Among other measures, stock-listed companies in the European Union will have to achieve 40% of women on boards or 33% of executive and non-executive directors by mid-june 2026.

Legislation is driving change

The adoption of the Women on Boards Directive is already encouraging countries and companies to take action. Additionally, member states that have already implemented binding targets are leading the way, while countries with no legislation at all are stilll lagging behind.
