How gender-diverse are companies in Europe?

28 November 2018: publication of the first EWoB – Ethics & Boards European Gender Diversity Index

Awareness is growing that (gender) diversity is a key enabler of corporate success, but what is the current status with regard to gender diversity in European companies?

On Wednesday 28 November 2018, European Women on Boards (EWoB) and Ethics & Boards will publish their first European Gender Diversity Index. The comparative ranking analyses the 200 largest companies of the Stoxx Europe 600 registered in nine European countries (*) with regards to gender diversity in corporate top positions on Boards and Executive committees. Three criteria have been applied to establish the 2018 Index:

The percentage of women on Boards (**)
The presence of a woman servingas Chair of the Board (**)
The presence of women serving as Chief Executive Officer or Chair of the Executive Board

The media are invited to attend the evening of the Index publication, where compelling keynote speeches will be followed by a panel of prominent CEOs and experts who will share their views on a greater presence of women in leadership positions. To acknowledge those corporations who have made real efforts in the field of gender diversity, the 3 best performing companies will be awarded.

(**) For companies with a dual structure, “Board” indicates the non-executive body.
