In the course of our most recent talks with the highest representatives of the European Commission on Gender Equality Strategy – Ms. Helena Dalli, the European Commissioner for Equality and Ms. Irena Moozova, the Director for Equality and Union Citizenship – and their expert teams, we have mutually acknowledged the synergies and identified opportunities stemming from our common missions.
The general conclusion of our discussion was the unequivocal commitment of EWoB to support the European Commission in achieving the targets set by the European Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025.
„While the EU is a global leader of gender equality and has made significant progress in the last decades, there are still areas that need our attention. One of them is decision making in the business area.
Women remain underrepresented in leading positions including EU’s largest companies. To let the women lead in business, among others, the Commission will push for the adoption of the 2012 proposal for gender balance on corporate boards. The Commission will also promote women’s participation in politics. To lead by example, the Commission will strive to reach gender balance of 50% at all levels of it’s management by the end od 2024.” (source: European Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025)
