Fireside Chat – What Happens on Board: Experiences and Learnings

At this members only fireside chat on What happens on Board: experiences and learnings, esteemed EWOB Executive Committee & Board members come together  to share their experiences & learnings from their board journeys.

During this event, you will have the chance to learn from personal journeys, challenges faced, accomplishments achieved, decision-making approaches, and insights on what it takes to be a successful board member. The diversity of experiences and perspectives will provide you with valuable knowledge and inspiration as you progress in your own professional journey.

We believe this fireside chat will greatly contribute to your understanding of the boardroom dynamics, governance practices, and the qualities that make a successful board member. It will also serve as an excellent networking opportunity, allowing you to connect with like-minded professionals who share your passion for gender balance in decision-making roles.

Speakers

  • Siddika Demir
    Siddika is a global executive with more than 25 years of experience in engineering, construction, biotech, pharmaceutical and technology. She serves on the board of a B2B startup and is a founding partner in a startup leveraging AI to automate radiological and medical workflow. As the founder of her own company in Germany, Siddika partners and invests in novel technology solutions. She is an angel investor and the Board Chairwoman of the London Chapter of Keiretsu Forum.
  • Zeynep Yalim Uzun
    Zeynep has a diverse corporate career, 15 years of which in C level roles and in geographies ranging from Americas to Europe to Asia. In her most recent role, she led 14 brands across 150 markets as Arcelik Chief Marketing Officer. She currently leads her own business as a Board Strategy and Marketing Advisor. She is a Non-Executive Director for the Dogtas Group, as well as Advisor for education and technology start-up Twin Robotics and Science. Her non-profit board roles include Board Member of the Futurists Society of Turkey, and member of Northwestern University Family Council.
  • Robert Baker
    After a 40 year career in global HR consulting, Robert Baker now runs his own business, advising organisations on attracting, retaining and developing the best talent and building diverse teams. Robert is an EWOB Board Director and our D&I strategist. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Spktral, the gender pay gap analysis specialists and of Talupp, the AI driven talent development platform. Robert is a Trustee of One Loud Voice For Women and for Aspirations, a Charity aiming to assist people with neuro-disabilities to get into work.
  • Kristen Anderson
    Kristen is currently the CEO of European Women on Boards and a member of the EWOB Board and Executive Committee. From 2016-2021, Kristen was Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Barilla and had been a member of its D&I Board since its formation in 2013. Kristen reported to the CEO of Barilla and led a 12 member D&I Board, comprised of internal members from 8 regions and 2 external advisors. Previously, Kristen was VP of R&D for the Asia, Africa and Australia region for Barilla, based in Singapore. Previously, she joined Barilla in 2010 as VP of Research, based at the Barilla Headquarters in Parma, Italy.
  • Maria Sipilä
    Maria Sipilä, M.Sc. (Econ.) is a Vice Chair of EWOB and Founder and CEO of a growth consulting company Sipila Consulting. She has an international career from large companies such as Nokia and she has been in leadership positions in small and medium size companies, advisory board member and a start-up coach. Maria has been selected twice for the Women in Fintech UK Powerlist. She is also a jury member at the European Commission European Innovation Council and a Partner of Hallituspartnerit Board Professionals Finland.
