EWOB Fireside Chat with Kristen Anderson & Hedwige Nuyens
Two months after the official passing of the Women on Boards directive in the EU, European Women on Boards CEO Kristen Anderson and Chair Hedwige Nuyens come together in this fireside chat to discuss what this change will bring and how we can be prepared for it.
As the directors of European Women on Boards, they have been at the forefront of lobbying for the approval of the EU directive: From forming impactful connections with many other corporate and NGO partners to creating a talent pool of women leaders across Europe, EWOB has been an essential part of this major change.
Now that all publicly listed companies in the EU will need to ensure that at least 40% of the NED posts or 33% of all director posts need to be occupied by women by June 2026, one question is on many successful women leaders’ minds: What does this mean for me, and can I do anything to prepare myself for this approaching change?

Hedwige NuyensHedwige Nuyens has more than 30 years of experience in the Banking Industry and in Finance. She currently heads the International Banking Federation representing the banking industry at international level. Previously she was Head of Group Prudential Affairs at BNP Paribas, Chief Financial Officer of the Catholic University Louvain and Chief Risk Officer of ABN Amro Bank in Belgium. Hedwige is a longstanding advocate for gender diversity. Elected Businesswomen of the Year in 1999, she mentored hundreds of women so far, helping them build the career they want. She wrote a book in 2005 on the glass ceiling. In 2013 she was elected Chairwoman of the BNP Paribas' Women network. Hedwige holds a Faculty of Law and a Master's in financial sciences from the Catholic University Louvain, a Master's in business administration and finance from the EHSAL Brussels. She followed courses on Digital Transformation at Insead, on Sustainable Finance at Cambridge, on Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at MIT and on Cyber Security at Harvard.

Kristen AndersonKristen is currently the CEO of European Women on Boards and a member of the EWOB Board and Executive Committee. From 2016-2021, Kristen was Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Barilla and had been a member of its D&I Board since its formation in 2013. Kristen reported to the CEO of Barilla and led a 12 member D&I Board, comprised of internal members from 8 regions and 2 external advisors. Previously, Kristen was VP of R&D for the Asia, Africa and Australia region for Barilla, based in Singapore. Previously, she joined Barilla in 2010 as VP of Research, based at the Barilla Headquarters in Parma, Italy.
